How to turn markdown into a carousel
3 min read
Write your post as plain markdown headings, paste it once, and get an editable slide deck you can export to PDF or PNG in seconds.
Why markdown is a good carousel format
A carousel is an outline with styling on top. Markdown is already an outline: headings are slide titles, the lines below them are slide bodies. Writing the post in markdown keeps you focused on the argument instead of on boxes and fonts, and it means the same notes can become a deck, a newsletter or a thread.
The structure to write
Use one # or ## heading per slide, and keep the text under each heading to two short lines. Something like:
# Most cold emails fail in line one Nobody reads past a generic opener. # Lead with their problem Name the pain before you name yourself. # Ask for one small thing A reply is easier to give than a meeting.
Paste it, then edit visually
In DeckWave, open the markdown import, paste the outline, and every heading becomes an editable slide. From there you click any text on the canvas to rewrite it, pick a theme and font pairing, and set the aspect ratio for the platform you are posting to.
Export for each platform
Export a multi-page PDF for LinkedIn document posts, or a set of high-resolution PNGs for Instagram and X. On a phone the PNG export hands the files straight to the share sheet so you can post without touching a desktop.
